Tour highlights transformation of Dan River Research Building

Don’t let the outside fool you — there is a lot going on inside the former Dan River Research Building, which will soon become the River District Tower.

“The building outside is not going to change much; it can’t — it’s a historic structure,” Dr. Mark Hermann — one of 11 investors in the project — told members of Danville City Council during a tour of the building Tuesday.

There will be new windows through most of the building, Hermann said, though they will look exactly like the old ones, most of which simply could not be restored.
