Sports Medicine Outreach is a community based program to help support local student-athletes at youth, high school, and collegiate levels while also providing orthopedic physician coverage to the Danville Braves by Jonathan Krome, M.D. This extensive outreach program helps improve athletic programs by educating them on preventing and managing sports related injuries. The provision of services is a means to support and augment care provided by local medical providers by offering the services of licensed athletic trainers traveling to and visiting schools on site.
This program helps insure that injuries are recognized early, treated immediately and appropriately, thereby allowing injuries to heal properly and reducing the risk of serious injury or re-injury. Our community outreach is an important component of our sports medicine division. Hundreds of game events are covered in all types of sports each year. We help provide “on the field or sideline” coverage for sporting events.
Our fall weekend walk-in sports clinics, is another major focus of our outreach efforts. In addition, pre-participation physical examinations are a part of the overall community program to help support the schools, parents, coaches, and student-athletes. Contact your coach so they may contact the Certified Athletic Trainer responsible for your school to schedule a time to be evaluated and/or treated.
